Live-Action "Aladdin" Sequel MAY Be in The Works, Producer Dan Lin Confirms

Disney

It looks like we might be returning to Aladdin's world - or rather, a whole new world.

Following the global commercial success of this year's live-action Aladdin, including flying past the $1 billion dollar mark in the global box office (no magic carpet needed), it appears that a sequel of the live-action adaptation is a possibility and, according to producer Dan Lin, is already in early talks.

"We'd love to," Lin told SYFY WIRE, "People clearly loved the movie and watched it multiple times and we get lots of fan letters and people asking us to make Return [of] Jafar." While Lin shared that they are still in the early stages of discussion, "we're certainly talking about another movie."

One of the important conditions in making the potential Aladdin sequel would be for Ritchie to return and direct it.

That's "the hope", Lin continued. "[Ritchie] made [Aladdin] for his kids. They loved Aladdin, both the original animated movie and the Broadway musical, and they wanted him to make a movie that they could see...we'd love to have Guy [Ritchie] back and get the team back together. If we do another Aladdin movie, we'd certainly love to have him at the helm."

Ritchie returning to direct the potential live-action sequel is possibility, as Lin shared that the English filmmaker "loved the experience" of making Aladdin and "even before [the film's] box office success, [Ritchie and Will Smith] said it was the best filmmaking experience of their lives and they had so much fun doing it."

While no official confirmation has been provided by Disney as the potential live-action sequel is still in early talks, an Aladdin sequel is a strong possibility considering the strong global commercial success and enthusiasm with which fans and producer Dan Lin alike have expressed themselves.

Concerning what the live-action sequel could be, Lin said that like this year's Aladdin, it would "not be a straight remake of any movie that's been made before" and they're looking at "'where's the best way to go with these characters.'" Lin further elaborated telling ComicBook.com that they "feel like there's more story to tell" with an Aladdin sequel and have been "really looking at what's been done before in the past and the home video, and there's just more story to tell with the underlying materials...we are certainly exploring where we can go with this franchise."

This year's Aladdin is yet another of latest Disney films to have been released this year that have passed $1 billion earnings marks - including this year's photorealistic computer-animated Lion King and just recently Pixar produced Toy Story 4. Aladdin is the second highest-grossing Disney live-action adaptation to date, following 2017's Beauty and the Beast.

But until the potential time comes for you to say "let's go see Aladdin II in theaters!", you've got a friend in the Aladdin soundtrack and score to get down!

If an Aladdin sequel were to happen, what would you love to see in it? Would you want an adaptation of the 1994 animated sequel, The Return of Jafar, taking some thematic elements from it, or something completely different like say the Genie opening a cupcakery for me and this has nothing to do with the movie?? No, just me?! Do share your wish below!

Sincerely, Dora Goto

It's Not All Bad News for "Futurama" Fans, Thanks To Show's So-Developer David X. Cohen

JamCity If you are a big fan of Futurama like myself and were saddened by the news that Netflix was removing episodes from the cult-classic futuristic cartoon, then the show's co-developer David X. Cohen has come to the rescue! Recently it's been seen on Netlflix that various seasons of Futurama have been removed (only seasons 6 and 7 remain, which are divided into 2 parts and listed on Netflix as seasons 7 to 10), and naturally Futurama fans took to social media to express their discontent...most utilizing the show's own memes to do so. Before we go any further, I need to get this out of my system: ...There.  (I didn't mean for all the Futurama memes to be just of Professor Farnsworth, it just happened.)  But it's not all "bad news, everyone!" (Get it?!? Okay, I'll get back to the topic...) During a recent  Reddit AMA , the show's creator Matt Groening and head writer David X. Cohen, along with principal voice actor...

Having Breakfast at Tiffany's is NOW OFFICIALLY a Reality

Paramount Pictures If you're a big Aubrey Hepburn fan or simply a fan of good films from the 1960's like Breakfast at Tiffany's , then you'll probably be giddy as I to find out that an actual café store has opened at the fourth floor of the iconic Tiffany & Co. store located in Fifth Avenue in New York City. The café store is called Blue Box Café (rambling a little bit here so you have time to write it down, okay that's enough), officially opened its doors today, and according to a  review by Vogue  of the café's opening, it offers a $29 breakfast menu option that includes coffee and croissant with the "choice of an avocado toast, truffled eggs, or a smoked salmon bagel with schmear." But Blue Box Café will not only offer breakfast options (* very delicious breakfast options ), as  the  Vogue  review  noted that the cafe also offers lunch options at $39 (which include a starter and main course), including the "Charles Lewis Tiffany"...

Four Days After "The Addams Family" Hit Theaters, A Sequel Has Already Been Confirmed

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures Hear that? It's the sound of my mind being blown...or that of me snapping along to the Addams Family theme song. Following the commercial success of this year's animated re-imagining of one of our favorite unconventional families,  The Addams Family , which was released on theaters October 11, Deadline  exclusively confirmed on Tuesday that an animated kooky and spooky sequel is already in the works. In just its opening weekend, The Addams Family has earned $30.3 million from its theatrical releases in the United States and Canada (a little bit more than three-quarters of its $40 million budget), surpassing box office predictions and showing that millions of moviegoers are still interested in catching up with what Gomez Addams and his family are doing once again. In doing so,  The Addams Family also became the second highest grossing film in the domestic box office this weekend, following Joker which earned $55.9 million. While it...
