Disney Casually Confirms "Maleficent 2" Filming While Angelina Jolie Makes Instagram Photo Debut

IMDb

After 4 years since the release of Maleficent, it has been confirmed through a series of playful photos posted by Elle Fanning, who played Princess Aurora in the 2014 film, that the much anticipated Maleficent 2 has officially begun filming and started principal photography on April 29.

Fanning shared the beginning of shooting the Disney sequel by taking to Instagram to post two photos on Tuesday.

Instagram
The first picture uploaded by Fanning, in which we can see a certain Tomb Raider playfully standing behind Elle Fanning was captioned "Ultimate Photobomb #Maleficent2" and rightfully so.

Fanning's second picture features both stars smiling while Jolie does the peace sign, and the caption reads "It's bring your mom to work day on the #Maleficent2 set!!!!!" (Except she totally forgot #TotallyMomGoals)

What made this surprising, yet casual, reveal about Maleficent 2 having officially started filming just yesterday even more special was the fact that Elle Fanning's photos also marked Angelina Jolie's official Instagram debut, as Jolie herself doesn't have any social media accounts - unless she has a secret social media account dedicated to cupcakes (or is that just me?)

Filming for the Disney sequel is currently taking place in the United Kingdom, and according to a first synopsis revealed along with the film's announcement, the film will be:
A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after "Maleficent," in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney's most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, "Maleficent II" continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.
No release date has been given for this film, but expect to be getting excited over it likely sometime in 2019 or 2020.

What has been revealed is some of the new cast that will be joining the sequel as well as cast from the original 2014 Disney film that will be returning. Among the stars joining the world of Maleficent 2 include Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith, Harris Dickinson and Ed Skrein as Prince Phillip, and actors Robert Lindsey and Chiwetel Ejiofor are attached as well. Cast members confirmed to be returning from the first film include Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville.

The film is to be directed by Joachim Ronning, who previously directed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and will be based on a script written by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue, and Noah Harpster.

So, without further ado, thank you Disney for the great teasing, I am already waiting and exciting for this magically wicked gem!

Sincerely, Dora Goto

Four Days After "The Addams Family" Hit Theaters, A Sequel Has Already Been Confirmed

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures Hear that? It's the sound of my mind being blown...or that of me snapping along to the Addams Family theme song. Following the commercial success of this year's animated re-imagining of one of our favorite unconventional families,  The Addams Family , which was released on theaters October 11, Deadline  exclusively confirmed on Tuesday that an animated kooky and spooky sequel is already in the works. In just its opening weekend, The Addams Family has earned $30.3 million from its theatrical releases in the United States and Canada (a little bit more than three-quarters of its $40 million budget), surpassing box office predictions and showing that millions of moviegoers are still interested in catching up with what Gomez Addams and his family are doing once again. In doing so,  The Addams Family also became the second highest grossing film in the domestic box office this weekend, following Joker which earned $55.9 million. While it...

Live-Action "Aladdin" Sequel MAY Be in The Works, Producer Dan Lin Confirms

Disney It looks like we might be returning to Aladdin's world - or rather, a whole new world. Following the global commercial success of this year's live-action  Aladdin , including flying past the $1 billion dollar mark in the global box office (no magic carpet needed), it appears that a sequel of the live-action adaptation is a possibility and, according to producer Dan Lin, is already in early talks. "We'd love to," Lin told SYFY WIRE , "People clearly loved the movie and watched it multiple times and we get lots of fan letters and people asking us to make Return [of] Jafar ." While Lin shared that they are still in the early stages of discussion, "we're certainly talking about another movie." One of the important conditions in making the potential Aladdin sequel would be for Ritchie to return and direct it. That's "the hope", Lin continued . "[Ritchie] made [ Aladdin ] for his kids. They loved Aladdin , b...

"Friends" May Be There For You At a Movie Theater Near You

Photograph by David Bjerke - NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images Calling Friends  fans everywhere (so I picked up the phone!) Friends , the American sitcom that you probably know and know the words to its theme song even if you have never watched it, first premiered on September 22, 1994 and ran until 2004, and will soon mark its 25th anniversary. In honor of the 25th anniversary of the New York City-set sitcom, which has already seen and inspired the release of limited time Pottery Barn, LEGO, and Ralph Lauren collections (among countless fan fictions, of course), you may soon be able to catch your TV friends from Friends soon on theaters - now THAT'S a reason for Ross, Phoebe and Rachel to be screaming and jumping up and down about (besides trying to distract Ross from the fact that Monica and Chandler are in a relationship!) Select Friends episodes will be screened at movie theaters on three separate select dates starting September 23, including featuring exclusive interv...
