Emma Watson, who will be starring as Meg March in Greta Gerwig's upcoming 2019 film Little Women, joined her castmate Timothée Chalamet (who will play Laurie in this Gerwig adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel by the same name) in giving fans a little behind the scenes look into the cast and making of the film, sharing on both her Instagram and Twitter two simple but meaningful photos.
The first photo, shared on December 13, opens its caption with a quote from the classic Louisa May Alcott novel with a message central to Gerwig's film adaptation, saying: "I could never love anyone as I love my sisters."“I could never love anyone as I love my sisters.” - Louisa May Alcott, @LittleWomen— Emma Watson (@EmmaWatson) December 13, 2018

As producer Robin Swicord has said, the themes of sisterhood and the development of the March sisters as women were central to Gerwig's film adaptation. The photo shows Watson smiling and sitting next to director Gerwig, followed by Saoirse Ronan (Jo March), Florence Pugh (Amy March), Eliza Scanlen (Beth March), and Timothée Chalamet (the aforementioned heartbreaker Laurie).
The second photo shared by Watson, on December 19, shows Gerwig giving acting directions to Emma Watson while doing a scene with Laura Dern, who appears in the frame and will portray the matriarch of the March household Marmee March.

Prior to Watson, Chalamet was the first in giving us a sneak peak into Little Women and showing us some love through a picture, sharing a picture from rehearsals on October 20.
As co-producer Robin Swicord previously told the LA Times, Gerwig's film adaptation will differ from the 1994 film adaptation (which was also written by Swicord) in that it will focus more on the life of the March sisters as young adults after they've left their home and will be "taking a look at what it is for a young woman to enter the adult world."
The film will feature a talented cast including Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Bob Odernik, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March. Little Women will become Greta Gerwig's second collaboration with both Ronan and Chalamet.
Initially Emma Stone had been cast to play Meg March, but due to scheduling conflicts promoting the film The Favourite in which she starred, Stone had to step back from acting in Little Women and was replaced by Watson.
Production of Little Women already started in October. The film will hit theaters on December 25, 2019 and is the Christmas gift I didn't know I needed!
Sincerely, a Greta Gerwig enthusiast named Dora Goto
