While Prince made a powerful mark at just six-years-old as the lead of Sean Baker's powerful The Florida Project, which received an Academy Award nomination for William Dafeo as Best Supporting Actor, she has now accomplished another important dream in her life: getting to direct her very first short film at just 8-years-old. With the help of her The Florida Project director, any less!
Prince shared on January 3 in her Instagram a photo of herself behind a Panavision film camera, writing, "My dream of directing started on the Florida Project. I loved watching Sean [Baker] work and was inspired by his patience, vision, and creativity. Since then my dream was to become one of the youngest directors of all time. Today my journey as a director begins."
Prince followed up her Thursday Instagram post by sharing some photos on both Instagram and Twitter from the production of her short film, titled Colours, which the young actress (and now director) also wrote and stars in.

But Prince wasn't the only one excited about her impressive young directorial debut, as Sean Baker, who directed Prince in his 2017 film The Florida Project and she called her "friend and mentor" has voice his excitement for her and is guiding her through production of her short film, sharing so on social media.

Baker also shared that cinematographer Ben Loeb, who worked in films Hello Destroyer and last year's Mandy starring Nicolas Cage, is involved in helping the production of Prince's short film.

While it is unknown when exactly Prince's directorial debut Colours will come out or its premise, it appears that the short film was produced as part of the Curated by Facebook platform, as both Prince and Baker have thanked the platform for helping Prince in the making of her film.
What I do know is that young Brooklyn Prince's directorial dream and accomplishment is impressive, and I'm really looking forward to getting to watch Colours and any other projects she has in store - as actress, director, and maybe someday...writer?! Prince has proven that she already has a bright future.
As Prince shared on Twitter, it is "Never too young to live your dreams!"
